Should I Attempt NaNoWriMo?

I know it's a bit early for the NaNoWriMo craze to begin. (Linked in case you haven't heard of it.) My wrist will be (hopefully!) fixed by then. I may actually be physically able to keep up the writing pace along with my school work.

These last couple years my wrist just would not cooperate. Ultimate procrastination on getting it fixed, I know. Takes severe motivation (ok ok, severe pain) for me to be okay with someone cutting me open. While I'm awake.

Aliens and Flying Spatulas of Doom! (Now titled Average Joe.)
I want to work on my 2YN (a.k.a. 2 Year Novel, now titled Average Joe, shortened in my notes to 'AJ') outline so bad. I've hit a good spot.

But alas, my wrist is burning. Ice and insanely strong doses of anti-inflammatory medications are my friend right now.

Writing & Life^

Food:

No clue what will get posted Friday. Something to do with food. I may have to skip out on baking. Might share a few of my favorite baking blogs instead. (My wrist needs time off. If my husband knew I was typing this, he'd kill me.)

Poll: Are you planning on attempting NaNoWriMo this year? Have you even heard of it?

I'd love to hear different thoughts on the insanity that is NaNo.

Happy Humpday! (Or, as Stephanie over at The Writer's Cocoon calls it, Happy Hunksday!)

  1. I think if you need the "kick" people get from NaNo then go for it ... I don't becuase I have an established, structured writing schedule.

Hang in there with the wrist problem ... use the brace and the ibyphrophen ...

have a great writing day :)

  2. Of course I think you should do Nano. Duh. But if your wrist isn't better (god forbid), then no. I'd love to see your little bar fill up with those fabulous words.

I'm thinking of planning for my Nano this year (say WHAT?!), maybe you could help?

  3. Thanks Florence! I hoping to develop a steady writing schedule after my wrist is fixed. NaNo might be a good boost. Hmm.

Debbie - TeeHee. You planning...Good luck and I'll be glad to help!

  4. I'm already planning the novel that I want to write. I've managed to write 50,000 words for the past 4 years.

As for your doing NaNo--the final decision really has to be your yours. I strongly recommend that you follow the advice of your doctor. If it pains you to type, then I suggest you stop. If writing is one of your greatest loves--whether on this blog or completing a novel--you DO NOT WANT to permanently disable your wrist. In the short term, it isn't worth it!

  5. Hi,

I've been trying to figure out who you are over at the 2YN class but with no tangible results.

However, your line, "Aliens and Flying Spatulas of Doom! (Now titled Average Joe.)," leads me to speculate that your 2YN is about a short order cook and an alien invasion.

    Right or dead wrong?
